We had a great beginner class this past Thursday and we’ve begun to tackle everyone’s favourite – 3/4 shimmies!
Remember, there are two different kinds:
- The first one has the emphasis on the first count: one-two-three, one-two-three, one-two-three, etc.
- The second starts counting, and has the emphasis, on three: three, one-two-three, one-two-three, etc.
Keep practicing both of these at home and work your way gradually up to a faster speed. And remember that it helps to wear your coin belt, if you have one, so that you can listen for the 1-2-3 noise that you will be creating.
And please remember that this is a challenging move, and as such you’re most likely not going to “get it” overnight. Don’t get discouraged! Those of us that are at a more intermediate level can attest to the fact that it took us many, many weeks/months to feel comfortable with these shimmies. All you need to do is keep practicing and you can do it!
