On one hand it’s a bit sad as I’ve had such a wonderful time teaching here, and I will miss all of the wonderful students that I’ve had the pleasure to meet.  I hope that you all have learned something valuable from me and my classes, and I hope that you will take advantage of the abundance of teachers here in Prince George and continue to develop your bellydance skills.

But on the other hand, I’m off on a new and exciting venture that will take me to a new part of BC that I have never lived in before!  My husband and I have sold our house (no more dance studio for me – boo hoo) and are going to follow our dreams and see where they take us.

So, all thing must come to an end.  Thank you all for the fun we had, and I wish you all the best in your future BellyDance ventures!

Jasmille has been described as, “Vivacious” and “Red Hot!”, and she has been bellydancing for over 30 years.  We are very, very lucky to have the opportunity to learn from her right here in Prince George – and for two whole days!  I’m very excited that I’m able to bring her up here.

All auditions must be received by March 5th, 2010 to give us time to review all the submissions, and please keep in mind that each performance should be a maximum of 5 minutes long.

Don’t be shy, take advantage of this chance to strut your stuff!  Remember, without all of your wonderful performances we won’t have a show, so get in touch with me as soon as possible to make sure you get to participate.

Don’t let the word “auditions” scare you away – it’s not my job to judge your performances at all, it’s my job to make sure we don’t have 9 sword dances or 4 people performing to the same music!  Variety is the key word here, and so we welcome bellydancers of all styles and skills.  Would this be your first time performing?  Excellent!  You’re a 25 year veteran? Awesome!  Whatever bellydancing you’ve got tucked in your belt – bring it on!

So, get your yourself/your troupe organized, pick your dance, and get in touch with me ASAP!

In this workshop we’ll make sure that we take all the proper measurements, make the necessary calculations, and in the end will each create our own individual circle skirt pattern that we can use over and over again.  And of course, we’ll learn how to construct our circle skirt and the various ways that we can wear it.

The Workshop is scheduled for April 10th & 11th (Saturday and Sunday) where we’ll be learning some sizzling technique and a fun Raks Assaya choreography.  The Show will be on Saturday, April 10th featuring Jasmille herself, local BellyDancers, as well as BellyDancers from all across BC.

I’ve been in contact with one of my most favourite dance teachers of all time, Jasmille, and we’re going to be putting together a weekend Belly Dance workshop here in Prince George, hopefully some time in April.  Hooray!

I’ve been wanting to bring her up here for the last couple of years and I’ve finally gotten my butt in gear to start to get it organized.  So, where we’re at so far is this:

1. It’s going to be a full weekend workshop – that’s two days of excitement and learning!
   • Jasmille is famous for her awesome technique
   • You’ll also get to learn a new choreography (in which style is yet to be decided)
2. There will be a professional show in the evening between the two days
   • Eventually I’ll be taking submissions for those that would like to dance in the show
3. There will be a bazaar, of course

And that’s as far as it’s gotten.  As soon as I know what the dates will be you can be sure that I will let everyone know, and from that point it will all start rolling.

Hooray!   It’s going to be fantastic!

Classes are filling up fast so if you want to join in our Winter classes in January you must register soon!

The classes run for 10 weeks and each class is an hour and a half.  The cost for registration is $100.

Beginner classes are on Tuesday or Thursday nights from 6:30 – 8:00 pm.  All classes will be starting on the week of January 18th, 2010.

If you’d like to register and secure your space in a class you can get the registration form here, and remember that Kesavah BellyDance accepts cheques, cash, or if you’d prefer I can email you a PayPal invoice so that you can pay with your credit card.

Either way all registrations must be received no later than Sunday, January 17th so make sure to contact me as soon as possible if you are thinking of registering.

Unfortunately I’ve been pretty sick over the holidays and it’s just not letting up quite yet, so I want to give myself lots of time to get myself back up to snuff, and to make sure that I don’t pass whatever I’ve got on to anyone else.

So, instead of starting classes starting in the week of January 11th as originally planned we’ll be starting in the week of January 18th instead.

On the bright side, these revised class dates mean that everyone has more time to register for classes!  Hooray!  It’s always good to look on the bright side of these things.
