About Jasmille

We have a special opportunity to partake in a workshop with one of BC’s top Belly Dancers and instructors. Jasmille (from Vernon, BC) has been teaching and performing for over 30 years, and is the innovative artistic director and choreographer of the Desert Moon Dance Troupe. With Jasmille’s creative flare for dramatic, fun and highly polished performances, the Desert Moon Dancers are becoming highly acclaimed and sought after. A powerhouse unto her own, Jasmille enchants and electrifies her audiences with her refined talents and dramatic and alluring presence. She is a master of the vibrating shimmy, able to overlay it with tucks, drops, lifts, undulations, circles… you-name-it!
Jasmille’s solo dance career has led her to perform throughout Western Canada, Northwest Washington and New York City. She teaches weekly classes in the Okanagan and dance workshops and choreographies throughout B.C.
Specializing in Egyptian Oriental dance, Jasmille utilizes the “Salimpour” method of teaching, in combination with her own dynamic formula…which always includes a healthy dose of humour! Jasmille is also adept at several folkloric styles of Middle Eastern dance, and is a wellspring of information regarding culture, dance etiquette and history.
Jasmille has studied with world class notables such as: Leila Haddad, Horacio and Beata Cifuentes, Amaya, Suhaila Salimpour, Hadia, Shareen El Safy, Thalia, Susanne Del Veccio, Cassandra, Ibrahim Farrer and many more. Jasmille has also studied extensively with Egyptian Master instructors Yousry Sherif and Raqia Hassan.
“I absolutely love to dance and share what I learn. I believe Oriental dance is an excellent source of empowerment, as well as a beautiful art form.” ~ Jasmille
